YOGA for Youth in Black Yoga

yoga poses for beginners

Black yoga is now a popular option for exercise. Yoga is not popular among BIPOC communities because it attracts college-educated whites. However, yoga is becoming more popular in the Black community. Afrocentric Yoga, which is based in African culture and has increased its social media presence, is an example of this. This panel discussion will feature Blackyoga practitioners and researchers who discuss the practice in the Black communities.

Y.O.G.A. Youth Organisation of Great America

YOGA Youth has a long history here in the Bay Area. Its origins lie in India and Africa. While the Bay Area is well known for its progressive and diverse community many Black people in the Bay Area have experienced discrimination, and marginalization. Collective healing is needed for the high levels of racial trauma. Yoga mats are popular options for helping people overcome these problems.

The purpose of YOGA for Youth programs is to address the underlying behavioral needs of this population and cultivate emotionally stable individuals with expanded behavioral management skills. The YOGA For Youth approach addresses four key components of problems youth face in today's society.
